Abstract
U ovom diplomskom radu prikazan je povijesni razvoj geometrije od samih početaka civilizacije sve do razdoblja renesanse. Na početku je predstavljen razvoj geometrije u starom Egiptu i starobabilonskoj civilizaciji. Nakon toga govori se o razvoju grčke geometrije kroz povijesna razdoblja države, a posebna pažnja pridana je Euklidu kao utjecajnom imenu na području geometrije. U svakom razdoblju navedena su imena najznačajnijih matematičara i njihovi doprinosi. Slijedi razvoj geometrije na Dalekom istoku, i to u kontekstu kineske i japanske civilizacije te islamskih zemalja. Ovdje su predstavljena temeljna djela koja bilježe geometrijske rezultate tog doba i područja. Slijedi kronološki slijed razvoja geometrije na europskom kontinentu gdje se govori o utjecaju primijenjene geometrije, teorijske geometrije te su navedeni poznati matematičari, njihovi doprinosi i utjecaj koji su imali na područje geometrije općenito, kao i na manje grane geometrije.
Abstract (english)
This final thesis presents the historical development of geometry from the very beginning of civilization to approachment to the Renaissance period. The beginning presents the development of geometry in ancient Egypt and the old Babylonian civilizations. After that follows the development of Greek geometry through the historic periods of the state with special regard towards Euclid as an influential name in geometry. Every period names the most influential mathematicians and their contributions. What follows is the development of geometry of the East in the context of China, Japan and Islamic countries. Here, the most influential works which document geometric results of the time and location. Chronological development of geometry in Europe to the Renaissance period follows next, where there is word of famous mathematicians, their contributions to geometry in general, as well as subdivisions of geometry.
