Abstract
Ovaj rad otkriva povijest kombinatorne teorije vjerojatnosti od najranijih poznatih zapisa do sredine 18. stoljeća. Rad se dotiče povijesti od drevnih indijskih znanja o vjerojatnosti, preko koncepta vjerojatnosti u antičkoj grčkoj i srednjem vijeku, za koji se smatralo da je određen Božjom voljom, do početka određivanja šansi za pobjedu u igri u doba renesanse. Zatim slijedi začetak teorije vjerojatnosti za koju su zaslužni Pierre de Fermat, Blaise Pascal i njihovo slavno dopisivanje. Oni su postavili temelje na kojima nastavljaju graditi Christiaan Huygens i Jacob Bernoulli. Na posljetku dolazi Abraham de Moivre koji objedinjuje sve poznate rezultate i donosi svoje nove ideje koje postaju osnova teorije vjerojatnosti za buduće generacije.
Abstract (english)
This paper reveals history of combinatorial probability theory from oldest known sources to mid 18th century. It touches the history from ancient Indian knowledge of probability, through the concept of probabilty in ancient Greek and Middle ages, which they taught was determined by the will of God, to the beginning of calculating chances for winning a game in Renaissance. Then follows beginning of probability theory for which Pierre de Fermat and Blaise Pascal are credited through their famous correspondence. They set the basis on which Christiaan Huygens and Jacob Bernoulli will continue to work. In the end comes Abraham de Moivre who brings together all probality theory knowledge and gives his own new ideas that become basis of probability theory for the future generations.
