razlomke, omjere i postotke.

Parallel abstract (English) | The model method is a method by which mathematics in elementary schools in Singapore
is taught. By using those methods students visualize abstract mathematical relationships
and the varying problem structures through pictorial representations. These representations
are actually rectangles, which, if needed, can be divided in smaller rectangles. The model
method is taught in the early years of primary school and is used during schooling as a
strategy for solving problems which include whole numbers, fractions, ratios and percentages.
In the upper grades of primary school and in secondary school, the model method can be
integrated with algebra to help students understand and formulate algebra equations.
Students in primary school are introduced to two types of models: part-whole model and
comparison model. Part-whole model is used when one size (a whole featuring large rectangles)
needs to be divided into smaller sizes (two or more parts featuring smaller rectangles).
When the parts are given, then we can nd the whole. Sometimes the whole and some parts
are given, and therefore the unknown part can be found. The comparison model shows the
relationship between two or more quantities when they are compared.
The research has shown that students understand algebra problems much better when
they are using the model method. The problems aren't being solved automatically but with
understanding and better eciency. |
